How was your data created?
|
Initially the tax mapping base data was created by the digitizing U.S.G.S. quadrangles and dividing them down to the 1" = 600' tax map scale. Parcel informatioon from the state drawn tax maps was then "rubber-sheeted
to fit/ Additional data was digitized into this format and other sources of data from the state and federal governments were imported and broken down to the base scale level.
Over the past years, the County invested in a new mapping set. Digital orthophotography was flown in the spring of 2001 and new planimetric data sets were drawn. These planimetric data sets include hydrology (lakes and streams), hypsography (contour dn topography lines), buildings, roads, parcels and many other themes. Serveral of these themes and layers are being customized and updated up fit the County's new NAD 83 State Plane Virginia North data set. |
