Life Safety Division: Fire Marshal's Office
The Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office would
like to announce the addition of Chance, an Explosives Detection Canine. Chance
has been extensively trained through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms,
and Explosives' (ATFe) 10-week training program. Chance is able to detect
explosives, explosives residue, and post-blast evidence. He is also conditioned
with the ability to detect firearms, ammunition, as well as other products that
contain smokeless powder and explosive fillers.
Chance has been extremely busy since joing the Fire Marshal's
Office. He has assisted numerous jurisdictions with explosive threats throughout
the Shenandoah Region.
Chance is available for public demonstrations.
