Overview
Effective June 1, 2010 the Virginia service territory of Potomac Edison Company, which does business as Allegheny Power, has been transferred to the Rappahannock and Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperatives. As a result of this sale, approximately 102,000 Potomac Edison (aka Allegheny Power) customers in northwestern Virginia are now members of the respective cooperatives.
Frederick County will be served by both cooperatives. Over the past couple of weeks, each cooperative mailed letters of introduction to their respective new member/customers advising them of the changes in electric service, emergency contact numbers, etc. If you have not received a letter or are interested in finding your new electric provider, please click on the link below entitled "Likely New Electric Provider", enter your Allegheny Power account number, and your new provider will be revealed.
Once you have found your provider, you can click on the Frequently Asked Questions link for your electric cooperative to find out about service, billing, etc.
