Frederick County Explorer post #154
Frederick County Fire and Rescue and the Shenandoah Area Council Boy Scouts of America are pleased to offer this unique opportunity for young men and women with at least a ‘C’ average to learn about local fire and rescue and emergency services response organizations in a controlled, educational, and fun atmosphere! The Frederick County Fire and Rescue Explorer Post is not only an opportunity for young adults to learn about firefighting and emergency services as a career, but also allows for future opportunities in volunteerism with one of Frederick County’s eleven Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies! Activities and training will include CPR, First Aid, Personal and Protective Equipment and Gear, Radios, Ropes and Knots, Wild Land Firefighting, and much more!
Space is limited so sign up today!
Please note that Explorers will not be allowed to respond to any emergency scenes as they cannot be substituted for trained personnel, and they will not be allowed to drive apparatus, climb ladders, or enter a burning structure.
All gear will be provided—please be sure to select participant’s shirt, pant, and boot size when registering. Gear will need to be returned upon completion of Explorer program.
Training sessions will be held year round with courses primarily held on Sunday evenings.
