Code Enforcement Permits
The Frederick County Fire Prevention Code requires a permit be issued for the use of explosives/blasting, storage of explosives/blasting agents and for non-agricultural burning. Permits are valid for the designated period on the issued permit (typically 90 days). Permits may not be transferred to a different facility or owner and must be renewed upon expiration.

Inspections

A Fire Marshal will inspect your facility and upon satisfactory findings, will forward the findings to the Building Official for the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy. The Fire Marshal conducts inspections for all Fire Protection Devices within a facility, including sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, alternative suppression systems, kitchen hood systems, and building finals.

In addition to these inspection, the Fire Marshal inspects all tents (900sq.ft. and up), firework sales, stands, and shows, and conducts annual fire safety inspection at all public and private schools, daycares, nursing homes, hotels and restaurants.

Please allow 5 business days notice prior to a Fire Marshal inspecting your facility or property.

We have included pre-inspection checklists to assist in the inspection process. Please select the appropriate form and verify that all applicable items have been installed and inspected correctly. This will ensure that life safety systems are ready to be inspected by the Fire Marshal.
